The Tinyshield that fits on your Arduino compatible board is an All-In-One programming solution for all AVR based devices on the market, not only Tiny series AVR ships, but also various Atmel chips. We at Flytron have been using it since we started the project. My other programmer went to the trash. The TinyShield is enough for all your requirements.

With the TinyShield you can very quickly burn firmware to all kinds of microprocessor. To name a few: ATtiny45, ATtiny85, ATmega168, ATmega328, ATmega44 and ATmega48. The TinyShield is also STK500 v1 compatible, so virtually any processor that can be programmed through an STK500 can be programmed with avrdude through TinyShields 6- or 10-pin ISP connectors.

Connection Samples

Re-programming Arduino-Uno with 6pin ISP

Loading Arduino Bootloader into empty ATMEGA328

Programming ATMEGA328P SMD chips with 10 pin ISP SMD interface.

Loading the arduino codes into ATtiny chips

For more information about the possibilities of TinyShield download the manual below.

TinyShield is based on work done by MIT. Reference: Programming an ATtiny with Arduino
