SimpleOSD Soldering Manual
What is the suggested way for soldering pinouts?
I'm selling SimpleOSD without soldered pinouts. Because possibilities much more than 1 or 2. But i'm designed it for compact usage. This article about that. I hope my english will enough
This is the parts of OSD
Cut 4 pins from pinheaders. This 4 pin will connect your GPS on OSD.
But bottom side very long and top side very short for us.
Put it on place and press the plastic part or header to ground. Plastic part will shift to downside
Now we have tall pins
Solder the pins from bottom of OSD board. Use fine tip soldering iron.
Put the GPS on the pinouts.
Keep it parallel to the OSD and solder the pins. That is it. Now we have tall pins for USB firmware updater's plug.
This is my personal OSD's pinouts. I soldered right angled pinouts for flat usage. And I soldered every pinouts because this is my test prototype
You can see our tall pinouts here.
And USB firmware updater's plug can hold this pins.
This is my SimpleOSD Ultralight's pinouts. It's looking basic after XL
And important point; "Why GPS board's bottom side covered with white paper tape?" Because OSD boards Crystal's metal shield touching the GPS's bottom side, white paper tape protecting it from electrical contact.
I hope it will useful for you.
How Can I Solder the DIN Plugs on Current Sensor
You need fine quality solder(I suggest acid based stainless steel solders, i will sell it on my site at the future), Male and Female Plugs and current sensor.
This is the soldering position of parts.
Put the solder drop on Ground pin of male plug.
Then solder it on ground plate of Sensor board. Solder drop on the plug will increase your soldering quality.
Put the solder drop on Ground pin of Female plug and solder it like Male plug.
Then solder the Positive pins of plug on Current sensors sensing plates.
Done, you have good solder joints for high current.
