We are not stocking FLIR Lepton v2 cores since mid of 2017.
Please search your local OEM market or FLIR Distributor for the thermal cores.
They are push-fit compatible with our camera body.

DroneThermal is the first micro size & low-cost analogue (PAL/NTSC) thermal camera for small UAVs and surveillance.

We would like to introduce you the smallest thermal camera in the world!
DroneThermal v3 is only 3 grams and the dimensions are 20x20x15mm

It is based on FLIR's revolutionary low cost 80x60 pixel Lepton camera cores. (sorry, not supporting 160x120 cores because of their data bandwidth limitations)

Video frame rate and resolution are not much but the price is perfect for civilian small drone hobbyists.
Also, it is fully legal because of <9hz thermal core design.

DroneThermal Connection & Settings

There is a mode button, a Blue LED and a 6 pin 1.0mm pitch connector on the back of DroneThermal cameras for settings and interaction.

VDD(+) / GND(-) Inputs

DroneThermal cameras work with 3.3-5v power supplies over this pins. The maximum supply voltage is 5.5V. The input voltage regulator will be burned if you supply it with higher voltage. Please be careful when connecting it to your power source.

Video Output

Video Output of the camera (yellow wire) is standard analogue video output(75Ω). So you can connect it to your monitor or video gears directly.

The MODE Button

The mode button has 3 different roles.

  1. Click it to select 8 different (4 colour maps and radiometry on/off) display options.
  2. Press and hold the button when camera working for ~5 seconds to calibrate the camera with a flat surface.(FFC) (Lepton cameras cannot record the calibration data into permanent memory. You should calibrate it every time if required. Horizontal lines on the image are completely normal and they will disappear after FCC)

  3. Press and hold the button when the camera off and power on then release the button to enable Firmware update mode of the camera. A RED LED will blink continuously into the camera during this mode. Just reset the power to return camera mode.

CON  Cable Input

The white wire of the camera connector has connected to CON input of the camera.
This input accepts 3-5V digital (1 or 0) signal and acts like the MODE button for remote applications.
So, you can change the camera mode with a microcontroller or calibrate it with FFC.
(CON input cannot enable the firmware update mode of the camera.)

The Blue LED

The Blue LED is connected to CON Input of the camera with 1K resistor and it acts like a voltage limiter to protect the camera input.

RX / TX Inputs

These are the serial port of the camera module for firmware upgrade or serial features.
DroneThermal cameras are firmware upgradeable devices and we will share firmware with our customers if required.
The second role of these ports is NTSC / PAL selection of the camera.
Just shortcut the RX and TX cables and power on your camera. Your camera will detect the shortcut in startup sequence and change the camera video format from PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL.
We strongly suggest PAL because of higher vertical resolution of PAL format.
